Los Fresnos, Texas is Justin Springer's hometown. He grew up there with his parents and a twin brother who now plays college football for the University of Texas-El Pas.
As a high school player for Los Fresnos, Justin Springer was ranked as the 39th best player in the competitive state of Texas. He earned varsity letters in football, basketball, and track and was of the top 10 academically in his graduating class.
As a true freshman in 2007, Justin Springer saw action in all 13 games on the reserve squad as a linebacker and special teams player. Despite limited playing time, he still managed to complete 23 tackles, bringing him to 11th on the team.
In 2008, Justin Springer was a frequently utilized reserve before experiencing a season-ending injury. He still managed to be recognized as an Academic All-Big 12 First Team winner.
