Chuck Long enters his first season with the Kansas Jayhawks, serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Chuck Long is a former Heisman Trophy runner-up and NFL quarterback. He had an illustrious career at Iowa, where he guided the Hawkeyes to the 1985 Big Ten title, a berth in the Rose Bowl, and a national ranking of No. 1 for five weeks. Chuck Long also won the Maxwell and O'Brien Trophies while finishing as the Heisman Trophy runner-up to Bo Jackson as a senior. After college, Chuck Long was the 12th pick of the 1986 NFL draft and spent seven years with Detroit Lions and one season with the Los Angeles Rams.

His coaching career began in 1995 with his alma-mater, the University of Iowa as a defensive backs and special teams coach. He worked with Iowa until 1998 when he moved to the University of Oklahoma from 1999 to 2005 working with the quarterbacks and offense. From 2006 to 2008 he was the University of San Diego State Head Coach.
