KU Football

The KU football team is a very competitive team that represents the University of Kansas in NCAA Division I football. KU football dates back to 1890 and currently plays in Memorial Stadium.

Along with games against regular Big 12 Conference opponents, annually the KU football team will include rivalry games against the Missouri Tigers, the Kansas State Wildcats and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The rivalry that exists between the KU football team and the Missouri Tigers football team is known as the Border War and is the longest uninterrupted rivalry west of the Mississippi River. The KU football team has met the Missouri Tigers team annually since 1891.

In addition, KU football holds a rivalry with the in-state Kansas State Wildcats called the Sunflower Showdown. In this rivalry game, the KU football team competes for the Governor's Cup, which is granted to the winner of the Sunflower Showdown by Kansas' governor.
